Success stories

This week i had the pleasure to be a volunteer counselor at Free Arts' MACCamp which is a camp for kids that are, shall we say, less fortunate than most kids their age.  These kids live in group homes because their parents have done bad things and got caught doing it, or have abused the children and are not allowed to see them.

It has been a life changing experience and I am so happy i got the opportunity to work there for the week and spend time with the kids.  They were the most polite, sweetest, most adorable kids i have ever met.  They have all grown over the week and all had their own success stories but i thought i would share a few with you that really made my week special.

So there was this girl who was so cute and super shy the first day i got there.
If you talked to her or just said hi her face would be red as a tomato.  She was so cute!  She would do everything but she would kind of not want to talk to people or do anything with people, so she would do things with the volunteers or counselors.  When we went to dance she didn't want to dance at all, so i asked her to dance with me and she just kind of bunched up and turned red and i told her she was so cute and she said thank you and danced with me a little bit.  She was a great sport.
throughout the week she was getting to be more outgoing and talking with other campers and everything.  Today was our showcase or like.. where all the groups got together and did some sort of show and tell.  Our group was the blue group, or blue angels, and we were doing our chants and everything and the counselor from the red group came over and she just burst out.
She was loud and proud and was a sassy little girl.  But she was still polite and adorable as ever!  She just found her voice and danced and had fun and it was great.

My drawings are getting worse right now wow, i'm sorry i'm pretty tired from the entire week.

But these kids were so sweet and i am going to miss each and every one of them.  They gave the best hugs and were so fun and polite and just amazing.
I just have one question now

I can't wait to go back!

BLUE ANGELS BLUE ANGELS BLUE ANGELS!
